What Delegates are Saying...
What Delegates are Saying...
In 2007, the Governance Centre of Excellence introduced a new governance curriculum as part of OHA’s strategic directions, “Leading Excellence in Governance.” The curriculum and methods were completely revised and updated. Check out what delegates who have taken part in the new curriculum are saying about it.
General / Overall comments:
- My first time attending. Wow! I found the conference, speakers, sessions and so on, exceptional.
- I now feel as a new board member to be more effective, you have to become more informed about our health care system and how it affects our own hospital and community, and by attending these types of seminars and others they help to better educate us to become more effective and useful board members.
- The knowledge gained will make me a more effective member of our board quality committee.
- Excellent for any Board member.
- Excellent range of qualified speakers.
- Lots of good ideas and information to take away and share...
- Great information and good idea's to bring back to the board and start working with.
- The ability to network with other Board Chairs was priceless.
Essentials Certificate in Health Care Governance
- Highly informative to the beginning board director
- The speakers (Anne Corbett and Jim Mackay) were excellent and knew their material very well, and fielded any questions during their presentations.
Leadership Certificate for Hospital Board Chairs
- This was a very helpful Conference that will make my Chair position much easier as I will be better equipped to do the job.
- The networking opportunities and discussion with other registrants were great. The instructors (Shannon MacDonald and Shelley Rosenbaum) did a good job of facilitating the open discussion.
- The mix of presentation formats, written materials, discussions and networking was very good. It was the best OHA education that I have attended.
- Excellent Program. Content was relative to the skills and knowledge required by hospital board chairs. Well organized and presented by professional facilitators. I liked the videos that shared ideas and experience from people in the board roles.
Board's Role in Quality Oversight and Improvement
- FANTASTIC!!! Would highly recommend it to every person in my organization and on the Board to attend. As a quality coordinator I was completely 'pumped' to get started on strengthening our quality programs at the hospital.
Certificate for Implementing the Guide to Good Governance
- An excellent program that fresh and experienced board members can benefit from. I liked breaking into individual boards to examine how we could do things better. It helped to identify "local" areas for development as a board versus keeping the whole day general.
- This session was very informative, especially for new Trustees. All Trustees should be encouraged to attend a session such as this one every few years. Refresher would be good for all of us.
Current Issues in Health Care Governance
- This was an excellent program and focused on the governance issues associated with relevant topics.
- One of the best OHA seminars I have attended; well worth time and money.
